INNER Circle at The PALAZZO - Testimonial 10

Trevor,

My first time at The PALAZZO. A great venue and meeting place for business people!

The venue and staff is superb in friendliness and professionalism.

I enjoyed meeting new people and plan to do business with at least three of them.

I could also promote some of the professionals like Eric Schmikl for team building and the Institute of International Business consultants, to other businesses.

It was useful and fun at the same time.

Word Of Mouth - Tax Advisor Talks INNER Circle

Writes Margie Lagerwell:

Hi Trevor

I know you are always inundated with emails – not sure if you would have seen this somewhere! It is from the seda newsletter. I have enlarged and highlighted the applicable section.

Referrals the best way to get clients

WITH more people opening up small businesses than ever before in South Africa, starting and running your own business consultancy is beginning to look like a profitable opportunity. But once your consultancy is up and running how will you source your clients?

seda business brief spoke to three business consultants on the best way to get business in through your door.

Owen Fielding of TEC Solutions says he has always relied upon referrals to obtain clients. He gets clients largely through organisations that assist businesses, such as the Umsobomvu Youth Fund and Khula Enterprise Finance, the government's agency that funds small businesses.

Fielding says he is always nervous about publishing his name on public databases because of the quality of clients he may then receive. The organisations that refer clients to him act as screeners which means he won't be "sitting with 200 guys who want to open up spaza shops", he says.

Herman Rall, a tax advisor, who runs Rall Consultancy says he relies on five methods to source clients, namely:
· Word of mouth from existing clients.
·
Through his membership to INNER Circle, a networking group for business owners.
· From referrals that he gets through two independent contractors. They run adverts on various websites and direct clients to him. He grants the referees 10% commission on every invoice he bills clients he receives through the contractors.
· Through agreements he has with three different company registration offices.
· Through his website which he recently redesigned using manuals he downloaded from
www.marketingtips.com. He says he paid $250 (about R1 700) for the manuals, but says it was worth it because 20% of all visitors to his site convert into sales.

Bernard Schoeman (pictured above) of Wiseguys Consultants and Accountants says he has placed his consultancy's name on many government databases, but says the problem with databases is that you can soon find yourself buried amongst thousands of other names.

He says even if your name is on a database you still have to go out and meet with the prospective client before you can consider doing business with them.

Printing and distributing fliers is another way to get clients. He says even though he was only able to get one client from the R2 000 he spent on printing fliers, it was worth it because he believes that one client will be able to refer other prospective clients to him.

Contact Rall on 012 654 0150 and Schoeman on 015 307 7008.

INNER Circle at The PALAZZO - Testimonial 7

Hi Trevor

I enjoyed the INNER Circle meeting at the PALAZZO on Tuesday very much, both for the presentations and for the opportunity to network with fellow entrepreneurs and decision makers.

The venue was superb, the service excellent and the snacks delicious. We had, as you know, a serious storm during the drinks session. This was handled by the staff without fuss and the few raindrops that got through did nothing to dampen the spirit of the attendees.

I look forward to future meetings and opportunities.

Kind regards
Chris Stevens

Dear Trevor

Thank you for last night's meeting at The PALAZZO. It was fun, informative and entertaining.

I did chat to a few people and found it interesting. Perhaps I can interest some of them to attend a workshop on the Leadership Scorecard and on how to analyse and get at employees instinct based talents. When will I be able to access the web and be listed on the site?

I also wish to discuss funding more specifically with you as pertains to the Gara water project and getting the Leadership Scorecard advertised to industry.

The food / wine was great. Heidi (manager) was delightful and is an excellent host / manager.

Kind regards

Dear Trevor,

Just to provide you with feedback on last night's meeting:

The venue at the Palazzo (Monte Casino) is superb. It added ambiance to the guest speaker event and the venue is well located for easy access for INNER Circle members to meet on a regular basis.

My heart felt thank you to The PALAZZO management for their wonderful catering (food and wine) which adds class to the INNER Circle events and is in line with the distinguished people that attend these meetings to undertake business networking.

You need to send a word of thanks to Mr. Helder Pereira (CEO of the Southern Sun Group) whom I know. Some years back I did some consulting work for the group.

We must try to secure this meeting venue for a few years to come. I have no doubt that The PALAZZO will benefit tremendously from the INNER Circle spin-offs.

Best Regards

INNER Circle at The PALAZZO - Testimonial 2

Hi Trevor,
Without a doubt, the best INNER Circle meeting I have attended.

The venue was excellent, the post meeting drinks and food superb, and the key-note speaker brilliant. This was by far the best venue so far to be able to talk to fellow business men and woman and establish good contacts.

I will definitely attend more meetings at this venue. Well done to all concerned.

INNER Circle at The PALAZZO - Meeting Feedback

WOW! - a full house at INNER Circle at The PALAZZO proved this venue to be a BIG HIT.

Many thanks to The PALAZZO General Manager Mark Sawkins, Banqueting Co-ordinator Debra Geddes - Tel: (011) 510-3000 - & Banqueting Manager Heidi Kleynhans for EXCELLENT presentation of finest quality wines and and canapés to go with a magnificent venue.

Please feel free to share your feelings from last night to add to our long list of TESTIMONIALS ... Please send your INNER Circle - The PALAZZO positive testimonial on this link

The oooh's and aaah's from some of our first-time visitors as they took in the vista from the Terrace is nothing compared to the impression your clients get when you entertain them to a dinner, business breakfast, lunch or tea at The PALAZZO... their pastries are to die for!

Read this testimonial already in this morning:

Dear Trevor, I would like to extend my appreciation to you and your team as well as the management at The PALAZZO for the professional manner in which yesterdays session was organized. This has been my first session attended and I found your approach to be innovative and thought-provoking to say the least.

Your organizations ' no-nonsense, hands-on personal approach' to networking works for me and I look forward to sharpening my networking skills in the future.

I have been involved in event management and training of staff for Sun International in the past but I must commend the standard of service delivery at The PALAZZO. I was suitably impressed with the attention to detail displayed by the banqueting and beverage staff .

The banqueting supervisor, Abraham arranged access to the casino at my request for the closest ATM and even accompanied me to ensure that I was able to re-enter via the access controlled gate at the side -entrance of the hotel. He enquired as to my name and addressed me accordingly in this personal manner for the rest of the evening during the serving of refreshments after the presentation.

I would like to commend the management of The PALAZZO hotel and their staff on being one of the few venues in Johannesburg who have demonstrated a thorough grasp of the concept of service excellence.

No.5 of 14: Multiplies The SYNERGY Of Quality Relationships

Writes Trevor:

Here's No.5 in a series of 14 posts extracted from an original article written by self entitled:

14 GOOD Reasons Why You Have Got To Be ‘CRAZY’… NOT To Join The INNER Circle of TOP Business Decision-Makers In Your Area…!

5. Multiplies the synergy of quality relationships. Buckminster Fuller – America’s super-inventor, of Epcot Centre: Geodesic Dome fame – gave scientific meaning to Napoleon Hill’s claim: ‘A group of brains coordinated in a spirit of harmony will provide more thought energy than a single brain.’

Fuller’s formula for Synergistic Relationships showed that 10 people at a table have 45 possible relationships, 100 people in a room have 4950 possible relationships, and 1000 people in a business forum have 499 500 possible relationships. INNER Circle brings these multiple new relationships to you for you to capitalise upon.

Take Your Life & Business Journey With PASSION

Trevor writes:

Thanks Ivan for locating the Steve Jobs video clip below. This is what I liked from it:

1. 'You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards'.

In other words, go with your gut, your passion, your goals... and enjoy the journey (yes, there will also be hardships, so what)... you'll see what it all means when you get there.

2. 'Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.'

Can't beat that comment... it's spot on!

3. 'When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.'

Good on you Steve Jobs... great speech.

Learn To NETWORK Like An Entrepreneur

Trevor writes:

Had this excellent article referred to me: Network Like an Entrepreneur

Although aimed at Corporate American employees, it touches at the core of key reasons why one should be in networking mode at all times. Points I like:

1. Entrepreneurs love to talk to people about their businesses — networking is typically their No. 1 or No. 2 channel for new clients.

2. What 'corporates' don't see is that by staying home instead of getting out to meet people, their own networks don't grow. And that, over time, can really hurt them.

3. Possessing a varied and vibrant network of contacts helps you make better decisions; provides you with advice and moral support for career steps and transitions as you encounter them; and gives you another outlet (besides your own workmates, your spouse or partner, and your dog) to vent about and process your experiences at work.

4. For avid networkers, network-building never ends. They are out and about, in person and online, making and cultivating relationships with people across the business ecosystem.

5. The people who really benefit from the buoyant networks around them are connectors, who I call the uber-networkers. Connectors are people who don't merely build their own networks but also introduce great people to one another.

6. Connectors thrive because they actively seek to move the value of their networks from one contact to another. They know — they trust — that this interaction will benefit them, too. Their networking isn't a matter of "help me, right now," but rather of finding common elements among the people they've known for years and the new people they're meeting.

7. Move into active networking and cultivate some terrific connecting skills

An excellent piece - read it: Network Like an Entrepreneur
